Behzad Taufiq

Behzad Taufiq is the Managing Principal and Chief Investment Officer of Valentus Capital Management, an investment firm focused on Global Credit assets. He is Global Head of Credit and Fixed Income at XBTO, a firm focused on digital assets.

From 2011 until March 2020, Mr. Taufiq was the Head of Credit Trading and Managing Director at Hudson Advisors, the asset manager for Lone Star Funds, a private equity fund that has raised $85 billion in capital since 1995 and specializes in distressed investing.  At Hudson, Mr. Taufiq was responsible for the underwriting, trading, and modeling of Lone Star's credit assets which included ~$100 billion of US Residential Mortgage Bonds, US Residential Whole Loans and US Corporate Loans.

Prior to Hudson/Lone Star, Mr. Taufiq worked in the Mortgage Trading team at distressed investing firm Cerberus Capital Management, a firm that raised $42 billion in capital since 1992, as well as at Certavi Capital Management.

Mr. Taufiq is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley where he focused on science and comparative literature (English and French). Mr. Taufiq was an athlete on the Track and Field Team (400 meters) and the Football Team (running back). He lives in New York with his wife and three children.
